417 ACRE OPERATIONAL DAIRY FARM
KINBURN, ONTARIO, CANADA
Wonderfully rural and private, but located only 5 minutes from Hwy. 417 (Trans-Canada Hwy.) and a mere 20 minute drive to the bustling west end of Canada's capital city, Ottawa, Ontario. Also within minutes of a number of medium-sized towns and quaint villages; convenient to shopping, schools, hospitals, and other amenities, as well as equipment dealers and feed and farm supply stores.
WHY EASTERN ONTARIO?
There are many reasons to buy a farm in eastern as opposed to southern Ontario and elsewhere, not the least of which is the land price disparity. Any farmer considering a move or expansion is well-advised to visit this area in order to gain an appreciation for the region's rich farming heritage, beauty, and excellent land quality. As milk prices are the same across the province, purchasing here is financially advantageous.
FARMER TO FARMER...
We don't have to tell you that dairy farming isn't merely a business, it's a way of life. We eat, sleep, and breathe farming twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. We take our children to work with us, instilling in them a deep sense of responsibility, providing them with life skills and a work ethic second-to-none. We're able to teach them to rejoice in our countless blessings and to respond in a healthy way to inevitable set-backs. We build memories, and we also build character as we work alongside them.
Dairy farming doesn't merely boil down to a financial formula or business model - we live, laugh, and sometimes weep where we work. Our farms have financial-value as well as heart-value.
The farm you buy is where you will raise your family, where heartstrings will be tied and your legacy established, likely carried on by future generations. It's where those you love will regularly gather to celebrate birthdays and other cherished holidays for decades to come.
We've known farm families who've made national or international moves who, having purchased farms based almost exclusively upon a business model or plan, have ended up regretting their circumstances and location, so carefully consider where you want to spend the rest of your lives, where you want to raise your children and possibly your grandchildren, the kind of community which will best suit your family's longterm needs and goals. With that in mind, we're convinced that once you see for yourselves what the Ottawa Valley has to offer, you'll agree that the beauty and location of our farm is second-to-none.
Having seen what they've done in southern Ontario and elsewhere, partitioning and selling off "excess" farm land, transferring only the bare minimum with the dairy, limiting the ability to expand, and with families discovering too late that they couldn't produce enough feed in good years, let alone in times of drought or due to other anomalies we sometimes face as farmers, we're endeavouring to sell our farm intact, to make all of our land available to a younger dairy farming family. If the buyer decides at some point to sell some of the land, it'd be preferable for them to do so on their own terms and once they have a good understanding of their own unique needs, rather than being blindsided by circumstances they hadn't been informed of.
This farm has been in our family for just shy of 100 years, it's our sincere hope that the new owners will enjoy its beauty and blessings as much as we and those before us have, that they will reap the many benefits of its tremendous potential under their youthful vision, energy, and zeal.
